Current fragrances.

In the heat of summer, there's nothing worse that feeling muggy and smelling funky. I used to like spraying light colognes such as body splashes (the Bath & Bodyworks ones come to mind), however those don't always last long. So this time, before I moved to Portugal, I decided to invest in a few higher end ones.

When it comes to fragrances, I think less is more. I don't like complex scents with layers of different notes. I prefer to keep them clean and simple. I used Amazing Grace by Philosophy for a long time and loved how it smelled - like clean crispy sheets - but unfortunately, it doesn't last long on my skin.

So just before I flew off in June, I purchased Eau Duelle by Diptyque. It's probably the most expensive perfume I've ever bought. As I result, I use it very sparingly as a treat on those days when I need a little pick-me-up. It's a little sweet, a little spicy. I don't usually go for sweet scents but this one is just right. Doesn't make me feel like a fruit cake after I spritz it on.

I've wanted one of these fragrances ever since I heard about them years ago, but had always stopped short of buying them due to the price tag. However, we all need a little treat once in a while, don't we?

Notes: vanilla, spices and frankincense.

Two other fragrances I have with me are by Jo Malone. I've been a fan of their fragrances for ages. Two (or three) Christmasses ago, I bought a set of 5 little miniatures. I still have a little of one or two left back in Singapore. They were fresh, clean and very lovely.

When I had the opportunity to make a purchase en route to Lisbon at duty free in Dubai, I jumped at the chance. It's one of the best places to buy higher end beauty products. I chose two from the ones I liked (which were many, might I add): Wood Sage & Sea Salt and French Lime Blossom.

Wood Sage & Sea Salt just reminds me so much of nature and the beach. Both things, I totally love. Who doesn't like the scent of a beach holiday? "Escape the everyday along the windswept shore. Waves breaking white, the air fresh with sea salt and spray. Alive with the mineral scent of the rugged cliffs. Mingling with the woody earthiness of sage. Lively, spirited and totally joyful."

French Lime Blossom is a very feminine, pretty fragrance, thanks to the light floral and powdery notes in it. I don't usually do floral, but there is something so refreshing and chic about it. "Early summer in Paris. Heady, powdery linden flowers are enlivened with a splash of bergamot and a touch of herbaceous tarragon. Blossom at its most beguiling."

If you're a bit tired of the types of fragrances offered by other luxury brands, why not give these a go? They're really quite lovely.
